How to apply

Application process summary

  • Please apply with an up-to-date CV, and a response to the three questions on this page. There is no need to prepare a lengthy cover letter, please simply ensure we have your full contact details (including personal email address), and that you indicate which location(s) you would like to be based in and which is your preferred service(s) to join.

If you are currently studying, there may be resources available to you through your university to help you prepare a CV. Other resources are widely available on the government website and other websites such as Prospects.

    Please send applications to careers@turley.co.uk

  • If your application is shortlisted, you will be invited to take part in an online interview which will last around 30 minutes, with a member of the Turley People and Culture team, and one of the Planning/Service teams. This is when we get to know more about you, and you can find out more about the opportunity and whether it’s a good match for you. We’ll ask about your CV, your skills and your experience.

You might want to look at the Turley Attributes to help you prepare. Using the STAR method can help you to structure a good response to an interview question.

If there are any adjustments you need us to make to enable you to fully take part in the interview process and do your best, please get in touch.

  • As a final stage in our application process, an Open Day will be held at a central location (to be confirmed). You will have the opportunity to visit one of our offices along with other graduates and students, meet members of the Turley team, and hear in more depth about life at Turley and the graduate programme. During the day you will also have a further face to face interview. We’ll share more details of what to expect with your invitation but if there are any questions you would like answered earlier, please get in touch.

  • You will be contacted in February/March 2023 with the outcome of the process. If you are offered a place on the Turley graduate programme, the details will be set out in writing for you to consider. Where we are not offering you a place on the programme, we will let you know by email, with the offer of more detailed feedback if you want it.

Apply with your CV and your response to the three questions on this page by 23rd October 2023 to careers@turley.co.uk

If you have any questions about the programme or application process, please get in touch on careers@turley.co.uk

Questions

Please answer the following questions in a format of your choice, whether that be a slide deck, a written document, a short video or something else.  If you are sharing a written response, please aim to keep each answer to within 100-200 words as a guide. If you are sharing a video, 2-4 minutes is recommended.

Q1.

What attracted you to the Turley Graduate Programme?

Q2.

Why do you want to work in your selected field in the built environment?

Q3.

Tell us about a challenge facing the built environment now or in the near future and how you think this might affect a Consultancy like Turley?

In responding to the questions, make use of the resources that are available to you.  Talk to colleagues or university contacts.  Take a look at the Turley website and the Royal Town Planning Institute website for ideas, as well as BBC news, and the websites of other organisations working in the built environment sector.  Following relevant organisations on LinkedIn can also be valuable in understanding the sector and knowing what’s happening.

What our co-owners think

Jadine Havill, Associate Director

Joining Turley as a graduate has provided me with a platform to flourish, learn and grow as a planner. I have been given the opportunity to work on a range of challenging projects from the outset of my career, which has allowed me to build a wide knowledge base and successfully become a Chartered Member of the RTPI.”

Ffion Middleton, Assistant Planner

After completing my dissertation on women’s safety in public spaces, I have been able to present to the Leadership Team and work with other co-owners to set up an internal group to look at issues of gender inclusivity in the built environment. Although I am at the beginning of my career, I am consistently supported and encouraged by my co-owners .
